A community can be a wonderful support system, especially in education. For this discussion, set aside some time to meet and to get to know your colleagues. Access the Cafe: LAPU Google Meet (located in the Student Corner of this Moodle webpage) to meet with others. If you are unable to attend during the scheduled hours, reach out to your colleagues to find an agreeable meeting time or meet with someone else that you know from LAPU.  Remember, the point of this exercise is to connect with others. Please only share what information you are comfortable with sharing.

Possible Discussion Topics:

  • What is your major?
  • What is your hometown?
  • What are your hobbies?
  • Do you have a job? If so, what field are you in?

  1. After interacting with at least one other colleague, answer the following questions:
  2. What did you learn from others? Is there something that you were able to connect over?
  3. Did this activity allow you to build your community of colleagues?

Requirements:

  • Initial Post: minimum of 250 words

Discuss

  • Respond to your peers by furthering the discussion on your thoughts on the strategies shared. Post at least two substantive responses to your colleagues. Cite scholarly sources where required. Responses could include suggestions for further resources, questions of clarification, or providing context and insight. Avoid simple posts of agreement; if you agree, explain why, and then thoughtfully further the conversation.

Requirements:

  • Response to peers: minimum of 150 words
  • Respond to a minimum of two posts

Discussion Instructions
