Practice Forum 4

Overview

The Practice Forum is a place to practice important writing skills, and share the results and reflections within a separate forum. Practice forum topics include exercises in developing an academic voice, practicing reading and writing assignments, determining approach, and evaluating thesis statements.

Review

1. Download and review Revise, Edit and Proofread (opens in a new window). 
2. Using your most recent paper as the subject, complete one of the Revision Exercises, one of the Editing Exercises, and one of the Proofreading Exercises. You can choose which of the exercises you complete, but you must complete one from each category. It is suggested you conduct the activities that reflect most your needs. For instance, if you struggle with wordiness, you might want to choose the activity in the Editing Category that relates to this topic.
3. Once you have completed the exercises, reflect upon the following questions in the practice forum:

2. Which editing activity did you conduct? In what specific ways did it help you? In what ways did it disappoint you? 
3. Which proofreading activity did you conduct? In what specific ways did it help you? In what ways did it disappoint you? 

Initial Response Requirement

• One paragraph per question
• Provide specific and detailed responses, and give examples as appropriate

• Read and respond to at least two classmates’ posts.
